A closer look at Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill
Cupid's Bow and Arrow on the bay near the ferry building.
There were quite a number of these bicycle taxis that would take you to Fisherman's Wharf and around town.
Below is a female driver. There are no hills on the way to the wharf, but it is a little over a mile from the ferry building. Some of the bike taxis had up to 3 good sized people in them. That sounds like a work out!
More produce. This is truly and outdoor city.
Famous Ghirardelli sign at Ghirardelli Square.
Below is another street performer (panhandler) that we had heard about. They call him the "Bush Man". He sits behind some branches to hide himself and when unsuspecting tourists walk by he shakes the bush at them, startling most! Of course his tip can sits at his side and he looks down at it each time he scares someone.......as we watched him, we figured out that he did that to draw attention to the tip can in case the startled person didn't see it.
We read somewhere that the original "Bush Man" had passed away. I guess this fella picked up the tradition of scaring innocent passersby. It was funny to watch the reaction of some of the people as they were scared half to death. Most took it pretty good.......some left a tip.
These were some of the working boats in the marina down past Fisherman's Wharf.
We saw this street when we were leaving Chinatown. It looked like a street with old saloons.
Sometimes open air dining is for the birds......literally! This pigeon flew up onto one of the tables right after I took this picture.....then he flew back outside.
Another look at the evening shot of the ferry building.
California Poppies were growing wild.
Coming back from Napa Valley we passed the Sonoma Raceway. Something was going on at the raceway, but it wasn't a NASCAR race.
On our last day in the city we had lunch at Joe's Crab Shack for my birthday.
You guessed it! I had to have the Fish and Chips!
This was a high end looking store that we passed across from the wharf area. Those colorful glass chandeliers were amazing.
This lovely piece below was in the window of the same shop. Alan took the picture and I didn't notice what it was until I was looking through the pictures for this post. At first I thought it was just a colorful piece of art........:)
OMG! He's peeing! :)
Leaving San Francisco:
Well it's time to move on down the road. But in order to do that, we have to first cross the Golden Gate Bridge in the Motorhome. I will admit that I was a little nervous given the number of aftershocks from the recent earthquake. In fact, the first night we spent in here, I felt the 3.something aftershock.
We waited until after rush hour to cross the bridge and go through town. We had our route planned out and it took us to the far west side of San Francisco and then south along the coast. It was an easy ride across the bridge and through that part of town.
Turned out to be fun and the scenery was great.
Here are some pictures that I took while we were on the bridge.
As we were approaching the bridge........you can see the traffic was pretty light.
I was so busy taking pictures, that I forgot to worry about an earthquake! :)
